Fascia is the fibrous tissue surrounding each of our muscle fibres, organs, nerves and bones. Fascia attaches to tendons and bones to help us move. Poor movement patterns, injury and being sedentary can cause ‘knots’, or ‘trigger points’ in our fascia, restricting our movement and causing pain or stiffness. Self myofascial release with objects such as a foam roller or massage ball facilitate the ‘breaking up’ these knots in the fascia, allowing the muscles to relax and become more mobile. This technique also improves blood flow to the area, improving the hydration of the fascia and allowing it to become more malleable. If done alongside corrective exercise, this will allow for re-tensioning of the muscles in the body in order to create more functional movement patterns.

Our Functional Circuit class incorporates exercises that you can do anywhere in your own home. We begin with activation and warm-up exercises to get your blood flowing and your body used to moving. We then incorporate a series of functional exercises to strengthen your core, upper and lower body. We don’t work muscles in isolation, but rather exercise your whole body as a kinetic chain. This ensures your body moves in the way it was designed to, and that we strengthen you up in movements that you will mimic during daily activities.
This circuit is designed to help you function and move better in everyday life.
Our Resisted Functional Circuit classes incorporate exercises that you can do anywhere in your own home with as little as one or two kettlebells or dumbbells.
We begin with activation and warm-up exercises to get your blood flowing and your body used to moving.
We then incorporate a series of functional exercises that really start to connect and build upon some of the foundational exercises that you would have been doing while in some of our lead in classes like the core and posture or body weight circuit sessions.
The session is designed to really strengthen your core, upper and lower body. We don’t work muscles in isolation, but rather exercise your whole body as a kinetic chain. This ensures your body moves in the way it was designed to, and that we strengthen you up in movements that you will mimic during daily activities.
This session is designed to help you function and move better in everyday life. So if you feel that you have the current body weight workouts beat and need a bigger challenge then this is for you. However please note that you woulf have to be able to complete a regular functional circuit quite easily in order to be able to progress up to this session.
Resistance Band Workout
Resistance bands are one of the most versatile pieces of equipment you can have to ensure a great workout from home. Our resistance band sessions are a step up from the CORE AND POSTURE class and can be a great compliment to any strength exercises you are currently doing.
In this class we focus on exercises to mimic movements that are desigend to enhance your gait cycle. Put simply these movements will imporove the way your body moves, build strength and enhance the hydration of your fascial system to largely improve your posture and gait.
And best of all they are a great challenge.
NOTE: All session times listed are delivered at Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
Note: Online classes are delivered by Zoom. In order to join one of our classes you will be required to download the necessary software from http://zoom.us.
You will be emailed a short time before you class with the link to your Zoom class (which also acts as a reminder).
Note: to maximise security of our sessions all meetings will require a password and waiting rooms are enabled - meaning we won't have any uninvited guests joining us!
